NELCOS was founded by a team of architects and material scientists who were tired of watching great interiors age badly. We set out to build a film that could match the ambition of the designers who specify it.
A problem we couldn't stop thinking about.
In 2009, our founders were working on a hotel renovation in Vancouver. The brief called for premium stone and hardwood throughout — materials that looked extraordinary on day one but would show wear within three years of heavy guest traffic. The client faced a choice between compromising the design or accepting a costly replacement cycle.
That project became the catalyst. We spent four years in material science labs developing a film that could replicate the visual depth of natural stone, wood, and metal — while outperforming them on durability, maintenance, and sustainability. The result was NELCOS's first collection, launched in 2013.
Today, NELCOS films are specified on projects ranging from boutique hotels to airport terminals, luxury residences to commercial exteriors. Every roll leaves our facility with the same obsession that started in that Vancouver hotel: the finish has to be indistinguishable from the real thing, and it has to last.

We believe the built environment should be able to evolve as fast as the people who inhabit it. NELCOS exists to make that possible: giving architects, designers, and building owners the freedom to reimagine any surface, at any scale, with a finish that holds its integrity for a decade or more.
